D-backs send Ildemaro Vargas back to Triple-A

The Arizona D-backs sent Venezuelan infielder Ildemaro Vargas to Triple-A Reno after Sunday’s game against the Rockies.

Vargas, 25, played in two games during his first major league stay. He made his debut on June 29 as a defensive replacement and did not hit a hit in two at-bats.

Vargas was summoned to the All-Star League in the Pacific Coast and at the time of his promotion to the Seniors, he was among Triple-A leaders in doubles (1st, 24th), runs scored (1st, 64th) and hits ( 4, 97).

In 74 games with Reno this year, Vargas batters .303 with two 3-pointers, six homers, 43 RBIs, 16 innings and seven stolen bases.
