The D-backs will seek to shut down the Dodgers’ Alex Wood when the teams meet in the second game of the three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
Wood literally has been unbeatable this year, winning his nine decisions, including 6-0 at Dodger Stadium. In his last outing against Padres, he allowed a run in six innings.

“We know he’s having a great year,” said Doreback manager Torey Lovullo. “His material has been fantastic. I am excited to see what he has, to see what he will do against us.”
The D-backs will go with Zack Godley, who has largely replaced Shelby Miller, who will miss the season for undergoing Tommy John surgery. Godley has limited his opponents to a batting average of .191, the fifth best mark of the majors between openers with at least 10 starts.
• Wood has been able to pull opponents out of their comfort zone at opportune moments, sending 38 percent of their off-pitch throws to the third highest mark for a starter with runners in scoring position. So far, his opponents only hit him 14-2 when they chase their offerings out of the zone in those situations.
• In five games in his career (an opening) against Dodgers, Godley has 2.45 ERA and his opponents hit him .135.
• In 10 games in his career (six starts) against D-backs, Wood is 3-3 with 3.60 ERA and has struck out 28 to nine innings, with 1.10 WHIP.
