Two Ahmed homers were not enough for D-backs

Trevor Williams pitched five good innings and the Pittsburgh Pirates cut a six-game losing streak with a 4-3 win Saturday over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Williams (2-2), in his second start since taking over the rotation job freed by Jameson Taillon to start his treatment of testicular cancer, admitted a run on four hits, struck out four and failed to make a run.
Williams retired the last 12 batters he faced.

On Monday he had had a tough night, with eight runs allowed in three innings against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. But on Saturday he only admitted a run, in a shot by Ahmed to open the episode in the second.

Taijuan Walker (3-3) allowed four runs, three of them clean, eight hits in six innings.

For the Pirates, the Gregorian Polanco 4-1 with a scored. The Venezuelans Jose Osuna of 1-0; Francisco Cervelli of 4-1 with an annotated one.

For the Diamondbacks, Venezuelans Grégor Blanco 3-0; David Peralta of 4-1. Cuban Yasmany Tomás of 3-0.
